3 Triggers For Unlimited Creativity

The difference between people who haven’t yet discovered their hidden genius and others who are supposedly “smarter” or “more creative” is that they haven’t understood what triggers are the most conducive to the creation of ideas.
Once you know and understand those prime conditions for creativity to flourish, a great fountain of new ideas will flush open. Here are the 3 elements which will trigger this wonderful release:
- Believe that you harbor creativity and intelligence. This is an essential pre-requisite for creativity. You don’t necessarily need to accept the “law of attraction” and similar theories, but this intrinsic belief and confidence in your capacity will open your mind up to interesting thoughts. Practice positive thinking and improve your self-esteem.
- Get out of your comfort zone. Some of the best ideas I’ve come up with have arised in situations that are completely strange to me. Although I am now a regular user of the train, at first it wasn’t comfortable for me to ride alongside complete strangers. I was used to the privacy of my own car. But then I started to come up with great ideas while I rode the train. I had experiences I never would’ve had had I stayed in my car. The new surroundings provided plenty of inspiration. Test new surroundings and experiences. I talked a bit about this in a previous post.
- Combine apparently unrelated things. It’s been said that nothing is 100% new. That statement is 100% correct. Ideas come out of existing elements. Inventions are basically new combinations of existing objects and ideas. So, it follows that an effective way of coming up with creative ideas is to purposely relate what you think is unrelated. What would happen if you combine a motor with a bicycle? A motorcycle. Intentionally play with these combinations and it’s very likely that, after a lot of wacky and ridiculous ideas, come good ones will emerge. When that happens, guess what? You’ve “magically” become a creative person!
These aren’t earth-shattering suggestions. But keep them in mind. You might be surprised when you come up with ideas you previously thought you weren’t capable of.
